Top Five Ways to Save at Disney Parks

img_0583Disney vacations can definitely put a dent in your wallet.  There can also be a lot of out of pocket costs once you get to Disney and I myself like to cut some of them down.  Here are some of my money saving suggestions.  Some might think these things are part of the vacation and you just have to go with it, but I am always on a hunt to save money in ways that will not effect my vacation.

  1.  Bring your own drinks. Disney allows you to bring your own drinks ex. pop, juice and water as long they are not in a glass container.  The average price for bottle of water is $3.00, regular pop $3.29, juice averages between $3.29-$4.29 at quick service restaurants.  We are a family of four and when we go to the parks both my husband and I bring backpacks.  We put soft sided coolers inside with ice packs and depending on our day will put pop and juice in them.  We bring Brita filter bottles for each of us and refill them with free water offered at many Park locations.  If we are eating at all quick service locations we will use our own drinks.  For four of us that is a savings of around $40.00 per day not including extra water that we would be buying if we didn’t bring our own.  Now if you are on a meal plan and dinning at a quick service your drink is included in the quick service ticket.
  2. Pack few Snacks.  With kids we all know that they can be bottomless pits.  Even though we like to treat ourselves to Mickey Pretzels, Cronuts, Dolewhips and all the other Disney must have snacks, sometimes it’s not enough for them.  Throwing in to your backpack some dried fruits, granola bars, nuts even fruit like clementines and apples can save you a few dollars.  These type of snacks average anywhere from $2.00-$7.00.
  3. Eat your largest meal at Lunch.  Often the offerings at lunch are similar if not the same as dinner and tend to cost less.  Also the portions are big so order to share or adults can also choose from children’s menue.
  4. Bring your own stroller.  To rent a stroller it can cost you anywhere from $40.00 for a multi day from an outside company or $13.00 per day from Disney for single stroller for multi days and $27.00 for double stroller multi day.  Not only will you save money but you will also avoid a chance of not being able to rent one because they all got rented.
  5. Pack your Backpack with essentials.  Hats, sunglasses, hand sanitizers, sunscreens, lip balms, bandages for blister, ponchos, extra batteries are all items that can be purchased at the parks but cost significantly more so bringing them yourself will definitely save you money.                                                                                                                                                    I hope that this was somewhat helpful and I am sure that there are many more tips out there.                                                                                                                                                 If you would like to know what I pack for my Disney trips you can check out my blog on the complete packing list.                                                                                                     Book with a Disney Vacation Planner –  Book with an agent that specializes in Disney Destinations.  We recommend Fairytale Travels Consultants  and they will help you book with the best price available and will continue to check your reservation for discounts even after you book.
